GT550 master cylinder

Post by joewillybob »

My understanding is that there are 2 types of master cylinder on a GT550. Is there a way to discern which one I have without taking it apart? Mine seeps a little, but still works fine. I want to get a rebuild kit so I can still ride it while waiting for the time to rebuild it. Thanks.

Year of your bike would help.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Just make sure it's for a single disc. The twin disc master cylinder has a 'D' on the underneath.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

What I meant was, can you tell if is an Asco or Nissan master cylinder. Mine has no markings on the outside. Thanks again

Asco were not used prior to 1976. Yours would be a Nissan. In rebuilding, you will develop a brand new hate for snap rings.
