Removing SRIS Lines.

I tried doing a leak down test, and found an airleak in my base gasket. im going to address that then do another test. In the process the lower SRIS line broke and fell apart when i removed it.(ITS COLD IN THE SHOP!) . So im looking to just cap these off....
also when doing the test i had a hell of a time trying to figure out how to plug the upper sris line. Temporary for the the test and permanently when i reassemble with new gaskets. how do you guys plug the upper sris line? the dummy in me just wants to glob jb weld over it. but i want whatever i do to be reversible, in case somebody in the future gets this bike and they want the sris lines in.

advice?

also....can the cylinder be removed without taking the motor out of the frame?

It can - but it is usually a pig of a job.

I personally think it best to remove the engine from the frame so you can deal with it at a reasonable height and with reasonable access, but each to their own.

It can but as Ian mentioned, there is not a lot of room to get it out and if it needs to be jacked off the studs, then it really has to come out as one heavy lump to be worked on.

how do you guys plug the upper sris line?

Small vacuum line caps, available at any automotive supply.

I have just once removed and replaced the cylinder block in situ (750B) and it was an 'only just' thing. I realised only at the top that, to clear the frame, I also had to remove the head-locating stud screwed into the block, while everything was delicately balanced. Which was fun. I got it off solo, but appreciated the extra pair of skilled hands from a pal in reinstalling the block.
TBH, I'd be inclined to remove the motor if there's ever a need for a repeat performance.

i pulled the motor. it wasnt as bad as i was expecting. i went to my local auto parts store and they didnt have caps that small.
i thinkk the smallest they had was 5/32nd what size do i need?

If you wanted to leave the engine so it could be switched back to the stock SRIS system something as simple a forceing a ball bearing into a short piece of the black tubing to block it gets the job done

And that's how "people" used to block off EGR valves and other pollution control equipment when that stuff came out. Ball bearing in the hose and no way for a casual observer/inspector to notice. At least, that's what I hear.
