T250-350 muffler problem.
I brought two T250 mufflers from two different places.had them rechromed.nice and shiny.fitted two T250 baffles.perfect fit.came to put them on and find the collars are T350(about 2mm to big).they just slide over the barrel thread.how do I attach them without cutting and recollaring and rechroming.I will be surprised if someone has an answer but suggestions will be welcome.

Is it possible to get a pair of what we might loosely call external helicoils that go over the exhaust stubs to take them up to 350 size threads?

The collars that stop the threaded nuts from coming off the header pipes are sweated on with bronze. I would try putting the header in a water bath as close to the welded collar as you can before heating with a oxy acetylene torch to remove it. Change threaded nuts and sweat collar back on. You will get some bluing where the header is not in the water, but hopefully most hidden by the nut. Good luck!

The sweating with torch and water is a good idea at this point for sure
But, They must be T350 pipes? If so the pipe is bigger diameter than T350 and thus will T250 collars fit over ?
Can you measure your pipe? I have both sets tucked away ( T350 and GT250), but can measure tomorrow afternoon if you want.

Re: T250-350 muffler problem.
the pipes appear to be 350(47mm int dia) but they were advertised as 250(45mm),however they take 250 baffles.near the end of a project and this happens.it shows that some people dont know what they are advertising.I may have to rechrome the old set or get gt250 pipes and use these for my next project.I will look into the oxy idea but not sure if I am confident enough to try.Vintageman wrote:The sweating with torch and water is a good idea at this point for sure
