Oil drain plug crush washer?

Post by Repeater »

What size oil drain plug should be used for the 17mm plug? Mine seems to be leaking from this spot. I torqued it to specs then a bit more but i seem to have a slight weep.

It seems to have been a problem for a while. I have had the bike running and only put a couple hundred miles on her but i can see a ton of old oil on her underside.

That washer is still available from Suzuki. Ask for part number 09168-10002. BUT, you need to drain the oil and inspect the mating surface on the crankcase. It might be burred up or something.or there might be a hair line crack. I have always reused those drain plug washers with no issues. So SOMETHING is making it leak.

I checked for cracks or damage, and found none. I replaced the crush washer and torqued to 17 ft lbs. I am still getting a slow weep. It's slow enoff not to bother me to much now. Still puzzled though.

Hmmm. 17 pounds might not be enpogh. I doubt anyone hear bothers to us a torque wrench on that drain plug. Seems like every one I ever dealt with were ungodly tight. I'd throw at least 30 foot pounds at it.
