Oil pump leak

Post by smokingbanana90 »

My oil pump leaks a lot a of 2 cycle oil over night and it appears to be coming from behind the throttle lever. Is there a gasket in there that needs replaced?

Yes, there is a gasket under the head of the pump and it is not available. You either have to make your own from a gasket sheet or Reiner Suzuki sometimes makes them available for sale. I think they are from Germany. It's easy to make your own, but requires precision cutting as there is next to no room available for sloppy work. You could also try Ultra Black Gasket Sealant as it is oil resistant. Be very sure to allow it dry for 24 hrs before fastening the head back down. As you absolutely do not want to block any oil ports from expanding sealant from the head of the pump being torqued over top of it. I would replace the o rings on the octopus first, as o rings harden with age. There is a larger o ring around the counter shaft also. But, my opinion. I don't see that o ring being very problematic as far as comparing those other items as culprits. But, it too can go bad.

:? Hi,my "A" has a slight weep from the same area...the Top Gasket is available as are the six "o" rings at the base of the pump, there is a V type seal on the control arm internally that is the "unavailable" one..Once the pump is apart you can take it to a Bearing Service to get a replacement seal that is close to what you need, make sure it's a "V" type seal as this type is what is required in this application,,,Email gtreiner1@aol.com for everything else to do with pump & banjo bolts etc ! 8)
Also the pump is explained on the Pink Possum Web Site under GT750 Oil Pump.

Just for clarity - what engine are we talking about ? If it's for your GT250, then I don't think the previous comments will help you as I thought the oil pump for the GT250 resembles the one used on the other twins. If you have a triple, then they will. 8)
