GT750M - Turn signals not blinking
When I switch the signals on the light is constant, no blinking. Started mid-ride yesterday. I'll have a chance to do some electrical checks tomorrow (Tuesday) night but wanted to see first if anybody's experienced this and might have some insights. Initially I did verify that all 4 stock bulbs are good.

Re: GT750M - Turn signals not blinking
Typically one of perhaps five things:

- - bad ground
- - bad switch (corroded, or high voltage drop through connections)
- - low battery (not charging or just old)
- - dead flasher or wrong flasher type for bulbs
- - using LED bulbs instead of filament bulbs with stock flasher

I wasn't expecting a response so quick. You inspired me to go out and check a few things.
- bad ground
- bad switch (corroded, or high voltage drop through connections) Could be. The problem actually happened yesterday when someone else was on the bike... Wonder if they slammed the switch?
- low battery (not charging or just old) Just tested 12.7V and also wired up a different battery... no improvement.
- dead flasher or wrong flasher type for bulbs Will try test fitting my spare flasher tomorrow.
- using LED bulbs instead of filament bulbs with stock flasher Stock bulbs
I also tested 9.4V at the right rear signal and I'm thinking that's too low.

Does look like a bad connection perhaps then as that is a lot of voltage drop. You can try rinsing the connector ends in some vinegar to clear off any oxide and then checking again - I usually use some dielectric grease when putting them back together.

Re: GT750M - Turn signals not blinking
Sorry to hijack thread. But my question is related to this topic. Has anyone tried using a cheapo aftermarket or another turn signal relay from a different make and model ? If so, please recommend maybe a suitable replacement that is not an expensive original for the GT.

All fixed up.
The relay ended up being the problem. On the positive side I do understand the turn signal electrical system a lot better now.
Justin, There are a few used ones on Ebay right now for cheap. I have to agree with you though, It does seem like the relay should be a somewhat universal part. I bet jabcb knows.

I used a three wire car flasher from autozone on my 550. I think it was around $7. It fit inside the rubber mount of the original flasher. Just a quick zip tie to hold it in place.

Re: GT750M - Turn signals not blinking
This is the one I thought about giving a go. Looks like it would fit in the original harness. New stock ones are way over priced and used ones are pretty much crap. As used ones seem to be subject to corrosion on the interior. Unless, you get extremely lucky and buy one from a bike that has seen very little moisture. Which I doubt most of the used parts have done so. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-LED- ... dc&vxp=mtr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's all I normally use - and if you want the 'original' look the new ones I get from the local auto parts place (CTC) even fit nicely inside the old flasher cans, so you can't even tell the difference and no zip tie required !bert0848 wrote:I used a three wire car flasher from autozone on my 550. Got a part number for that auto flasher?

Re: GT750M - Turn signals not blinking
Don't recall, but it isn't anything special. I just take my old one to the local supply place and match it up against whatever they have in the blister packs on the shelves. I think they are usually made by Tridon ? Typically for older vehicles between perhaps 1960 and 1995 or so ?Repeater wrote:Got a part number for that auto flasher?
