GT 750 starter clutch cavity and seal

Post by T350guy »

Maybe a silly question as I'm trying to find out why My LH side is smoking more than the others.
I thought I read that the LH when leaking sucks air only BUT If the Starter clutch cavity is filled with trans oil then the LH seal would suck trans oil and thus depleting the trans..am I correct in this assumption?

I guess you have answered this question yourself now that you are in that side of the engine , but it does look like the normal oil level in the starter clutch side should be around the bottom of the crank seal . I wonder if the oil level could be a bit higher if the bike is on the side stand though and then with the guts in that side flinging oil around i guess it would be possible for oil to be on the seal center enough to be sucked in .
