Yup, that's very, very common.


The issue is the plastic slide guide, as I said.

Here's the pisser... they are unobtanium as a separate part from Mikuni .
Otherwise, you'd just replace the guides at the same time as the needles and needle jets and you'd be good for another five years or so, instead of only approx 5000km, which is how long it takes for the needles to rattle themselves to oblivion in the jets with the slides banging about all over the place.

If there's anyone out there willing to re-manufacture the guides in a harder plastic to prevent wear, they'd be able to rake it in from the vast numbers of GSX-R owners with knackered carbs!

You haven't got a 3D printer handy at all?

Dave, The carbs should have the model number laser etched on body somewhere. It will be something like 35F or whatever and that should help you to identify what they originally came from.

The only #'s i see on the carbs are 41C1 and K1X2

Another google search found my answer " the '41c1' is part of a suzuki part number (denoting '92 1100) "

If you can get a manual for a 92 1100 it will give you all the jet settings and they usually refer to the model numbers as well. Don't be confused by codes like E03, E28 etc. Those are Country or California codes.

All 8 intakes i have here are the 06B0 type and are for the stock carbs .. i bet i need the 40C0 for the 92 carbs ? as the ones i have now are just too tight

Well as my luck runs the intakes on the old broke engine were attached with allen head screws that came off easy ... but .. the ones on the good engine thats already installed in the frame had the intakes screwed on with philips and out of 8 screws 4 decided to come out and the other 4... uh... no... so the heads had to be drilled off . I had to remove the oil lines to the head to make room for drilling and that was luckly as one of the oil lines where it attached to the head had no O ring on it .. so the PO must have been in there

You know, it seems a little odd that you couldn't fit the '92 carbs on the '86 manifolds.


I've just fitted a set of '92 GSX-R750 carbs (38mm powerjet) to a mate's GSX1100-engined Harris.
They went on the stock GSX manifold rubbers with nary a problem, and they normally carry 34mm carbs .

Surely the '92 carbs aren't that much bigger OD?

Or, maybe the bolt-on manifolds are less able to be stretched .

The 92 carbs measured 40mm on the outside and the stock intakes measure 36~37mm id so its a stretch and it was impossible to get all 4 carbs in the mounts .

I received the 40C0 intakes and the 40mm carbs slip right in so they are what i needed for sure
