I was crusin around on my computer and came across these pictures. The day came to install the newly powder coated frame to the motor on the motor of my GT750B. Son had a great idea. Let's get an old tire to help hold the engine up So we used that and an old carpet remnant to cushion everything.
If you look closely, you can see I have plastic over the intakes held on with rubber bands. On the exhaust side, I used some thin rubber and held it in place with the head pipe clamps. We set the motor on the edge of the tire and just sort of rolled it in. Lookin good!

The long 3/8" pipes you see made it very easy to move the motor around. Remove the upper motor mount bushings, slide in the pipes and lift. Still a 2 man job.

Altough the old tire was a brilliant idea, we had to abandon it. It would not allow the frame to drop on far enough to get the motor mount bolts in. So we removed the engine and the carpet and side lined the tire. Put he engine back in the carpet, stood it up and used various bits laying around the garage to shim it up and keep it from falling over.
Now pics are absent because there was no third party to take pictures while son and I made it happen.
About 1 hour later it's in and up on the roll about stand I got from Sears. The bungee cord was a good way the keep the swing arm from flopping around. In hind sight, I would have left it off as well as the triple tree. Just added more weight we didn't need.

Here the shocks are on, the battery box is in, the rear inner fender is on and the oil tank is on. So much for today.

I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

 Hi,yes I do like pictures, heavy lump of a motor, won't be taking mine out again in a hurry !
What are you replacing the head bolts with ? Nice shiny stainless,or having yours plated ? I was thinking about the stainless ones for mine,I should have gone this route when the motor was out 8 years ago in hindsight... .

Cheers,

Nice ! The engine is a pig to manage by yourself - seems heavier with each one I do :?

Yep .. even if you have extra hands to help ya .. laying the engine on its side and putting the frame on the engine is sure the way to go to avoid chipping up the fresh paint or killing your back
the older i get the faster i was
