How much would you expect to pay for a Powder Coat?

I called a guy here locally asking how much to powder coat a motorcycle frame. He quoted me $250 WITHOUT sandblasting.
He says he doesn't do that there and that they ship it up to the next town over for whatever that guy charges for sand blasting.
I thought most powder coat places also had sand blast facilities. Guess not.

So just curious, what are the going rates around where you guys live?

Here in Cary NC, I paid $275 for frame & swing arm sandblast & powder coat.

Man, you guys are getting bent over. I can get my frame and a box full of parts coated for under 200. That quote is from a few local coaters. My suggestion would be to find someone just starting out in the business. You can't screw powdercoating up. It either sticks or it doesn't.

Just make sure whoever does it takes the time to plug the threaded holes in the frame prior to coating, otherwise you will be spending time with a set of taps rethreading them. Pays to go to someone who has experience with m/cycle frames.

My guy in Racine plugs the holes, blasts and PCs for about 250 for frame swingarm and parts. That's in basic black.

Our local man was doing (blast and p/c) a frame and swing arm for £70 GBP for us until just recently. He was doing all our p/c....even some heat proof on our mild steel chambers. Sadly he was too cheap...as he has gone the way of many small businesses in the UK, and ceased trading. However, as luck would have it, the guy who does all of our welding, is in the process of setting up a p/c plant for a large contract he has secured, so I feel sure we will be able to get a great deal with him.

Actually there are several ways you can screw up powder coating, the easiest being bridging in tight corners as with painting not getting in crevices first, under baking, coating inproperly preped frame, ie rusting under p/c, too much powder.

my last bike yes the ol 'T' started to rust in place's,one of the reason why I sold it.
if I was to restore I'd just spray paint it.
that bike cost me 3 grand to restore and sold for less. never again!

well, after calling around to a couple of other powder coat places and getting quoted $400 (!!) and that general area I called up the first guy quick as I could and took him up on his offer. $250 for the frame, swing, center stand and foot pegs. I blasted it all myself. It's pretty and now I won't think about it anymore.

If you can get anyone to do it for that price. You better take it. Paint or powder. Just make sure for that price, it's done right. Lol !

Sadly i live in the rural of British columbia, canada and dont have acess to a powder coating business close by. so i bought my own for smaller parts. good for triple tree parts, calipers etc. (my oven for baking the parts is rather small)

Just got a quote for my T500 frame and bits and pieces, $250.00 for powder coat and $300.00 for real paint.
