High speed stall?

High speed stall?
I decided to ride the gt750 today with the wife, we were on an open road and I let her eat a little, we got up to about 80 or 85 mph, and if I held the throttle wide open for a while the bike felt like it was dropping a cylinder? It would loose power, but only when at full throttle so I'm thinking maybe it's the float bowl levels, I don't remember measuring them when I did it, I think I eye balled them just to get the bike running but the older I get the less I remember. I m wondering what you guys might think, I ordered the newtronics kit and I'm waiting for that, I'm just going to ride the bike the way it is until I have my health problems sorted out, and then after the ride I noticed the water pump started leaking oil!, it used to just leak very little antifreeze, and now it doesn't leak antifreeze but oil? I know about the o rings and seals but why would it leak antifreeze then stop and start leaking oil? And sometimes it doesn't leak at all, and when it does leak it only leaks a drop here and there not a lot. , so any thoughts on why it cuts out at full throttle and only at 80 to 85 mph?

I would suspect the float level. To check and adjust the float levels. Buy a small carpenter square with a slide rule. Some makes have a mm measurement. Check it when the float tongue barely touches the float needle. Or Google a 27.5 mm conversion to inches and scribe that measurement onto a piece of stiff paper. Use it to get you in the ball park. Not quite as accurate as using mm though. Full throttle flat spots or jerks are main jet related. But, being yours shuts off. I'd suspect float levels or bad needle valve.

ok, so im thinking my float level is wrong, I dont remember but to adjust them do I have to take them of the rod? totally apart? or can this be adjusted while the carbs are on the rack? (i know the carbs need to come off the bike, but do they need to be taken off of the rack) im thinking they have to be off to measure but I cant remember? its been at least 2 years since i was inside the carbs, I rebuilt them , and then I noticed the tank was leaking, and the one cyclinder didnt seem to be getting oil, so i put the carbs in a plastic bag so they wouldnt get dirty, then when i fixed the other issues i just put the carbs on, which was about 1.5 years later( i ran into more problems with other stuff on the bike that neede fixing) so i just synced them also, and I guess this means I will have to start all over?

Not too much of a pain. You can leave carbs on bike. If you have tiny hands, short Phillips, a lot of light. Just remove the bowls. But, it would be much easier to just remove the carbs. Don't remove floats. Put your measuring tool on the inner lip of the carb body, on top of gasket. Measure from that point to the furthest section of the float lobe at the moment the float tongue barely touches the needle without the needle depressing. It has to be 27.5 mm on each float. If it is not, carefully bend the tongue to compensate until you get the correct measurements. No need to take anything apart. Check that each needle valve easily springs back and forth. If they don't, replace. If you ever have carbs floading. You would have a rust particle in your needle valve seat or a sticking needle.
