How to test SRIS check valves ?

How to test SRIS check valves ?
I've read that they sometimes get stuck open or closed. How do you test that and what do you look for ? The complete assembly unscrews from the block, in order to remove ? I was gonna spray a cleaner through them or soak.

With a bit of pressure oil (or air) will flow one way but not the other.
With a pipe on the correct place of the fitting and pipe end in a cup of water - blow down the bolted connection end. Bubbles in the cup means the ball isn't sealing, suck and the water should come up the pipe. Try to avoid getting the water in your mouth as there won't be any alcohol in it.
If you take them apart, watch where the little spring goes. They fly better than an aircraft!

Alan. Don't you have that backwards? Valve out and a small section of hose on the barb. You should be able to blow through from the valve fitting and not be able to blow through from the hose end
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Thanks, do you just twist the complete assembly until it comes out? It's not threaded. Just tapered, correct? The spring is inside the tapered section?

They are supposed to let oil out of the bottom front of the engine & direct it thru the tubes up to yhe inlet of the next cylinder located on the back side, under the carbs. To test, I suspect they need to be removed & some amount of pressure applied to the end that was screwed into the bottom front of the engine. They should allow flow from the engine side, to the tube side & not the other direction. Removal of the tubes is probably not as easy as it sounds since the little metal clips need to be pulled back & the OEM tubes are invariably stiffer that they should be.
Another thought is to notice if your bike is smoking abnormally during acceleration & especially after idling (reducing this smoke is why the SRIS system is there). If it's not doing objectionable smoking, they're probably OK. Have someone behind you notice which (if any) pipes emit the smoke.
Just FYI, I eliminated my SRIS valves & tubes completely and have never noticed any difference in any aspect of the way the bike runs &/or smokes. I just bought the proper size bolts to fill the holes in the bottom front, & made rubber caps for the inlets under the carbs to seal them off. It works fine with out all that "stuff".

As far as eliminating them. I prefer not to. They are designed to keep the oil in the motor and not to expel as much out the exhaust. More lubrication. Plus, i adjust my pump to the minimum setting.
So, for that reason also. I dont like the idea of removing them. But, I guess the dowside to that would be more carbon build up. That shouldn't be too much of an issue either. If the pump is dialed back with modern oils. Im not having problems of any sort. I just want to clean and test them.
