oil recycling tubes

Post by kawonda750 »

Hi Guys. hate to say it, but I'm a kawasaki guy with my first GT750. It's been sitting for 25 years and I want to do a light hone on the cylinders. anyway, the oil recirculating tubes are not obvious as to how they come off. The manual says to remove them to pull the barrels. The tubes actually look like brake cables with a metal end. The question is, how do they come off? Do they just pull off the metal post thing I see on the cylinder? How are they connected? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

They simply pull off. Supposedly you have to be careful with the pressed on portion of the hose fitting being fragile. Which I believe, but up to this point haven't experienced that problem pulling them off. But, I grip the fitting to prevent that.

Thanks. Do I pull the line off the steel end, the steel end off the post on the cylinder or the post off the cylinder?
Yes, dumb questions but.....

The rubber line slips over a steel barb and then a very thin spring steel tube slides over both to lock the rubber in place.

With your finger nails, slide the small steel "clamping tube" back and the rubber hose should pull off the barb.

Yes. It's a split sleeve. Once you move the sleeve back about half a inch, the line pulls right off. New lines and split sleeves (clips) are still available from Suzuki.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.
