Dave, I think in large part its done to slam the bike down to the ground. Many of these bikes only weigh about 290 to 320 lbs and launch pretty hard...so it helps with the launch by lowering the cg of the bike and rider. Just about every bike there is raked except mine and Smokin' Joe's due to the fact we run in the "modified" class and we have to use stock frames. The Altered class allows more extensive frame changes which is where I think the "raked front end mods" come in. But one of the racers talked to me recently about raking for the Modified class so Im going to investigate further. Im not sure how much is gained (in terms of ET) by raking but first need to see if its allowed for my bike...Suzukidave

Kevin , looking at the Kawasaki drag bikes on that site i see most running a negative droop swingarms , does this help with launch or just give the front more rake .. both ?
