handle bar's???

Post by johnakay »

does any one know if the handle bar's are made of?
yes I know steel tubing but what grade??
I have some guys at the show asking if I'll make some.
but the materials that I used is only mild still and I dont think it will be strong enough even if its 2mm wall thick and while we're at it what size is the RE5 handle.tubing that I have is 19.5mm(3/4")

John, I know bugger-all about metallurgy but I would have thought the grade you use for your racks and grab rails would be ideal, certainly the grab rail would have to cope with the same sorts of loading and stresses as the handlebars.

my current stock would be to thin for this.
it would need to be at least 2mm thick.
I'm surprise you've not chip in Allan seeing that you have an RE5!
come on what size is the bugger!

Aren't almost all bars a standard 7/8" and simple steel tube? They aren't seamless and they are not very thick.

Someone should have a bar they can measure to confirm the gauge of tube used.
