CRMC at Mallory Park - old Suzis never die ...

Went to the CRMC racing at Mallory Park yesterday, which is racing for classic GP & privateer machines from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Fantastic day with some brilliant track action, and some ace machines in the pits.

Adrian Baker did well in the 250 twins / 350 singles classic class on his T20, although the best performance has to be Terry Brocklehurst on his T200, which finished 4th behind 350cc Gold Stars and a VERY quick Ariel Arrow-based machine. How does he and his team get a 200cc twin to go that fast? There was a nice TR500 replica running strongly in the 500 class, too; unfortunately a great-looking Kawa H1R didn't make it out of the paddock.

I didn't take a single picture all day despite my good intentions, too busy being glued to the action or drooling over bikes in the paddock.

Sounds like a good day out Craig....you can't beat the sounds and smells of the old stuff. We've been down to the classic road racing at Chimay in Belgium....that's a great weekend, you can get to ride the road circuit out of hours too.
The paddock is all open to the public which adds to the event, as you can get close to the machinery, and chat with the riders....

@ Titan - yes, Chimay sounds excellent. All the bikes plus the namesake beer, and chips with mayonnaise

@ Pedro - bloody hell, Adrian rode great in the last 250 race on Sunday, racers truly are a different breed

Didn't get to hear the TR flying on its own, it was in a pack. Looked very nicely turned out, though.

I was glad to hear Gary Thwaites came round, it was an odd crash he had at Edwina's in the ACU 500 and he was out for quite a while. It happened right in front of me, he'd made the left-hander and was just lifting it up to flick right when it looked like he missed a gear or it jumped out of gear ... he didn't seem to hit the ground that hard but it was face-first.
