fuel coming out after tank removal

Post by MikGsxr »

I have taken the T500's tank off a few times and when I do, fuel comes out of the petcock opening. isn't there a diaphragm to stop that happening? does this mean the diaphragm is bad? should it be repaired or replaced or won't it effect the running of the bike?

thanks

If you remove the diaphragm from the petcock there is a O Ring that shuts off the fuel, replace the O-ring and all should be fine if the spring is not broke.

I bought my O Ring from the hardware store.

looks like all it needed was an o ring at the filter screen and a good clean out. the gunk that was in it was shocking. the 4 holed rubber looks remarkably good for its age.
