BBC radio show - Ernst Degner

Post by oldjapanesebikes »

Tim over on the UK Yahoo board posted this link to a 30 minute BBC radio special on the defection of Ernst Degner - famous (or infamous - depends on your point of view I suppose) for stealing MZ's secrets in 1961 and giving 2-stroke success to Suzuki in 1962 with a 50cc world championship. Quite a story, and well told so worth a listen - there is a good book available as well called 'Stealing Speed' by Mat Oxley which give a lot more detail and is worth a read. 8)

Brilliant find, thanks for that :)

Stealing Speed is a must-read book, I agree. I'd also love to get a copy of Jan Leek's book, the MZ Racers (it provided a lot of the source material for Stealing Speed) but it's LONG out of print :(
