Don't be so negative,,LOLOL,,its one of those cases where unless you have actually ridden an RE5, you cant appreciate the bike for what it is.
That looks quite restorable; time, labour and money can fix almost anything, but not always in that order.
I've had worse looking examples to deal before with so its just more of the same.

I appreciate what you say Allan, it may well ride nicely....I have never ridden one so honestly can't comment, but for me it's dog ugly and looks like it was made up as they went along. Maybe I'm shallow, but I have to like looking at the bike as well as riding it.

I agree that it doesn't look too bad at all, and the condition wouldn't frighten me off. I like the messy ones, as you can buy them cheaper !

Its funny you should comment on the looks, apparently the legend goes that the Italian design studio Giugiaro was commissioned to design the bike using a circular theme of rotation. Hence the round binnacle and circular theme of certain body parts found on the first bikes.
They didn't sell well as we all know now, and so regular GT750 parts were used on left over 75 models with a few other revisions.
Here's something that makes you wonder about the timing of a models release. Today the 75 models are more highly sought after than the 76 for the funky parts usage.
Even I got caught up in this for my RE5 purchase, and once you've had the bike for awhile you begin to think the 76 looks too normal.

Do I sense someone's looking for a first project for their new workshop? For that price it really doesn't look like a bad deal at all. I've seen RE5's, in the early style as Allan put it, go for as much as some GT750J's.

OK, so I have slightly different tastes to many people, but I think that the 75s look fabulous. 76s are just another bike by comparison.

But motorcyclists are very conservative in many ways, so I can understand why it didn't sell well. I remember seeing it when hey came out and thinking, I like that, but there's no way I'd want to be seen dead on it.

The 75s are really cool machines. They are fun to ride and are quite torquey. Best of all they have an amazing exhaust note - not too dissimilar to a WWII Spitfire in full cry. However, they will scare the begeebers out of any poor cattle beast or mild mannered sheep as they roar past
