If you want to rebuilt your cranckshaft... do it, but... first do some singles 50 - 125 - 250 and when you can assembly them at less than 0.03mm in less than 1 hour... try to do a 500T cranckshaft.

I think I am going to build the bike first and then the motor. Have collected a fair amount of parts for this build- looks like I am going "streetfighter" with this. I am so far behind on two-stroke discussions, never really worked with them, so this should be interesting.

Can SOMEONE post a picture(s) of a triple crank thats apart?
I'm just curious how they're "stuck" together.
Is it possible to separate them w/o separating the balance weights & rods?
I have 2 noisy bearings on the Left cylinder (inner & outer) and a whole set of good bearings on my spare crankshaft (but IT has bad seals or I'd just toss that puppy in there end of story).
Just want to see what a crank, when its all apart, looks like.
Please?

Yes, you can just split the crank in half. I found this picture essay on-line and am going to try it this way .....

I realize this isn't for the faint of heart. I already have the "big ticket" tools (press, welder) and all sorts of steel stock to make "special" tools or holders I may need. If I can save myself several hundred dollars this way then that's just what I plan to do. Then I can use that money for other needed parts and Lord knows, that's a long list, lol.

A triple is a different beast. The above procedure will NOT
Are there clips that retain the center shaft to the couterweights? I'm bending 1/2" steel plate trying to pressing just two cylinders apart. The plate is C shaped the inner opening is just bigger than the bearings. It's flat up against the middle cylinder's weights.
I have a puller plate against the left cylinders inner weight and I'm using the two threaded holes in the puller plate & I'm trying to draw the crank apart.
1/2" steel plate bent w/o a difference .

if you want to see the cranckshaft inside, see my video
I do a thee cylinder cranckshaft with 2 500gt , just for fun.
At right 500gt central main bearing
At left the same thing without the main bearing and with the central pin not completly closed

no I meant how he presset on the 2 ends of the crank without suporting the 2 spaces were the big-end sitsPEDRO wrote:Greasemonkey, did you mean a wonderful bit of kit, or the english meaning, I'd go with the lattergreasemonkey wrote:did you see how this guy presses the 2 parts back together?

or is there something I missed?
I cant believe he's got only 1/1000 of warp on his crank by doing it this without support.

You are loosing a little bit of iron...
I don't do like you, I don't push where you push, I do with out the peace of iron
You are in the true, big support but also good press.
We have all a different technic to remove the cranckshaft, so , the most important is doing it well in a short time.greasemonkey wrote:[I cant believe he's got only 1/1000 of warp on his crank by doing it this without support.

hi pedro.
I never saw 2 pieces of crank rotate wile pressed. what do you do to prevent this happening?
until now I never did suzi cranks only jawa and laverda. can you put a rod through the 2 pieces wile pressing?
greetz
@ dinogt: you are right it's of most importance to support these places, myself I always disassemble the total crank because the big-end is the weak part of most 2-stroke engines.
