What pistons are these?

Post by Cliff »

I just pulled down a GT550 motor, the pistons are over size, marked with .08 on the crown, the top ring is "L" shaped and right at the top of the piston! What make of pistons are theses? Certainly not Suzuki, perhaps Wisecos??

I had a set of those style Wiseco pistons in a GT750 years ago and ended up shelveing them as the top ring would get carboned up pretty fast and then the rings would stick in the grouves .

They do sound like Wisecos. Trouble is Wiseco stopped making the "L" shaped ring style because the rings built up carbon and stuck as Dave described.
