help identifying engine case holes.
so I have my first "big boy bike" I've been tooling around on my Hodaka ace 100s. Well I finally picked up a gt380 she's not pretty, but it fires on all cylinders. I pulled the carbs for cleaning and saw these holes underneath. Sooo what are they for?

Re: help identifying engine case holes.
That would be the drain hole so that any water or fuel that collects on top of the motor can drain away.

The larger hole is probably for the SRIS lines that were on the K & L models. Then the smaller hole would be the drain for the K & L models.

Re: help identifying engine case holes.
thanks! so nothing to worry about. onward and upward! I will be asking many more questions, but for now I'll clean the carbs, put stock jets back in( they were larger). then source some parts. try n get as far as I can before I ask a bunch of questions. I know the clutch isn't working. I check the left side for proper adjustment. it was fine kinda sloppy in there not sure if that's normal. still wouldn't disengage the gear. anyways thanks!!

Re: help identifying engine case holes.
Does the clutch work at all? Sometimes when a bike sits for a while the plates will get stuck, especially if the wrong oil is used in the trans. The easy way I use to break them free is to start the bike in neutral and run it a bit till it is warmed enough to start easy. Then shut it off, put it in gear, and push start it. Then holding the clutch in the whole way yank the throttle on and off a few times, that will usually break them free. After they are free, I will slip the clutch aggressively a few times at high rpm's to burnish any residue off the steel plates. (Try to pull some wheelies?)
Did you adjust it at the trans, or just the cable? Not sure if you are aware there is a primary adjustment on the clutch push rod.

Re: help identifying engine case holes.
thanks for the info. I adjusted it under the left side cover as per manual. I'll cross this bridge once I get some other things done. then I will see if they are just stuck.
