Where can I get a kickstarter thrust washer for my 75 GT550?

Post by bobotech »

I lost mine when I was doing a bunch of work. I did find a washer that sort of works but I don't believe its the proper thickness. When I try to kickstart the bike, sometimes the kickstarter just slips rather than grabbing.

If someone could at least tell me the actual thickness of the thrust washer, then I could at least make something.

It has been obsoleted by Suzuki (dealer can't get it).

Your dealer is not trying. According to Motor City Power Sports, all 3 thrust washers are still available at about a dollar each.
Number 4. 16 and 17 are all thrust washers. Which one do you need??

#16. However even when I go to bikebandit and look up #16, I get the same issue, discontinued.

What website do you find it at? My dealer even showed me how it was discontinued and didn't have another number that replaced it.

Try here. They say they have it for $0.99. Click on the OEM tab.

It is possible that it is actually no longer available as the on-line fiche lists do sometimes list obsolete items. Actually, most of the American dealers with on-line fiches have unfiltered lists to you have to try a few to be certain. In addition to the one Chris has offered, I've found that Alpha Sports and PowerSportsPro are usually (but not 100%) accurate as to availability.

I hear that Ian, but..................... Alpha Sports says the oil inspection window rubber is NLA. Motor City showed that it was still available. I ordered it from them and a week later I had it in my hand. Shiny new in OEM packaging. So now when I want to check availability, I trust Motor City, NOT Alpha Sports. I think if Motor City shows the thrust washer as a good number, they have it.

No doubt Chris - as I said, you do have to check around. There are inconsistencies for sure. The other thing you bump into of course is the older shops may have their own NOS on hand which will also show in their inventory. That's how I got the bracket I wanted for my 1973 K - found it at a dealer in Finland ! 8)
