And if it's not a V-Strom, than what would be the guess?

,,,, Then you should really LOVE that Honda Crossrunner since its got what amounts to two V-Strom engines in it.
Neal you are taking this presumptuousness in good stride,The V-twin is the right engine. Love the power delivery.

Two strokes, its just that simple.

Re: Suzuki revamping the V-Strom?
I found this article and photo while snooping around for 2012 Suzuki info. It was translated from French so its not quite proper English.
It must be admitted: presented in 2003, the Suzuki DL 650 V-Strom begins is seriously dated both aesthetically and technically. Especially as the niche of mid-displacement road trail bikes, is expanding, it has led to becoming as competitive as that of mid-size roadsters. Well, according to our "insiders" - well informed - Suzuki is preparing to unveil a new version of its twin trail bike. It is unclear whether the future DL 650 will retain his baptismal name Germanizing (Strom meaning "stream" in the language of Nina Hagen) by cons we could glean valuable technical information, which we deliver them first.
Total technical overhaul
The bike would resume almost any component of the current V-Strom. It would thus be a complete overhaul, not just a face lift as one might expect in these times of crisis. Gladius borrowed roadster, the engine will be reworked for more fullness to the midrange. The chassis, similar in appearance, however, adopt a different geometry, a swing arm round (still way Gladius), new suspension and brakes "more serious" (probably the biggest record but still 2-piston calipers) with ABS standard. Rims, still sticks retain their current size: 19 inch front, 17 inch rear.
More dynamic, also Highway
Side look, fans of the V-Strom expect a shock. The massive lines and largely shrouded in vogue a few years ago are no longer appropriate in 2011: the adventurer Suzuki should afford a figure less clumsy, more sports, in line with the Triumph Tiger 800 and BMW F800GS. Is hoped that future DL 650 will retain the ability to travel as a duo in charge so popular among his senior, that tends to confirm the presence of a luggage rack and passenger handles as standard. Moto-Station should be among the first to try the new late 2011: Stay tuned!

Looks like a beak to me, after reading the article the 800cc Crossrunner is looking like its got the Suzuki beat in all areas.

Re: Suzuki revamping the V-Strom?
That beak is just a bad photoshop. There's enough of a teaser on Suzuki's web site to show that there won't be a major change in the overall look of the bike. Tweeks and adjustments, but not a radical departure from what we've had. I think a lot of people are in for disappointment. There's really no reason for Suzuki to go after bikes like the BMW or Triumph. The DL650 is a strong seller and virtually alone at it's price point. I'd look for basically the same bike they sell now, but based on the Gladius platform. It might have a few upgrades, but nothing game changing.
I could be wrong though.

Re: Suzuki revamping the V-Strom?
The US Suzuki site isn't showing that model at all, so will it be a Euro only version? More waiting needed on this.

Thud...
I can say with absolute certainty that I won't be replacing my current V-Strom with a new one.

Re: Suzuki revamping the V-Strom?
Its sort of like the story with the Bandit 1200s, the first shape was great, THEN came 2001,,,,,, and it was a step sideways, with smoke.

Re: Suzuki revamping the V-Strom?
here is the latest from the mcn paper....
The revised V-Strom 650 ABS will go on sale at a price of £6899 on the road when it becomes available in dealers in late July, Suzuki has revealed.
The facelifted machine features new bodywork, revised rider comfort, a new dash and now has ABS as standard. The price makes it £364 more than the old V-Strom 650A varient, which was also ABS equipped.
