Yes I have done that a few times before. Luckily I noticed it before the battery went dead

the cure for soggy forks i would think would be to upgrade the springs or a cheap stopgap fix would be to put a length ,
1' or so of pvc pipe from the home depot under the spring caps.

is it the bowls themselves leaking or just the float valve sticking and flooding .

its leaking from the bowl gasket. its not overflowing just coming out where it screws together. i disconnected the fuel lines and ran till it quit running, blew the carbs off to dry them , reconnected fuel lines and turned the valve on, and it started leaking from the screws that hold the bowls on. Floats are fine with no holes in them (set in acid dip tank and fuel to see if would sink) and did the ol' shake test to hear if fluid was inside. The acid dip tank (Safety_Kleen Immersion Cleaner and Cold Parts Cleaner P/N699) is for cleaning varnished carbs. I work at a lawn mower repair shop so i mess with brass floats all day long.

I have the same problem with my 71 T350 forks. Probably will be a project for next spring.

Haven't found any NOS or aftermarket springs for the bike. Haven't taken the forks apart yet, so I don't know what the spring dimensions are. Also haven't found specs for the springs.

Progressive Suspension lists their spring specs, so you might be able to find a good match:
http://www.progressivesuspension.com/pdfs/7100-105.pdf

Would be interested in learning about the results if you implement a fix.
