Have been unable to source a gt750 air cleaner assembly for the cafe-rat. Originality is not an issue, it has honda CBR front end, wheels, swingarm, brakes, etc. Previous owner used pods, I took them off and currently have my stock '74's air box in there, but she'll want it back when the engine is rebuilt.
I see several later model gt550 boxes on fleabay. I know they are 'different', but will they work?

Re: Fitment Q. '74--> gt550 air cleaner system on 74 -> gt7
Eric:
I foresee two problems:
AA) the 550 airbox would be marginal for supplying enough air for the Buffalo, especially at the top end. It is already just acceptable for the 550 in the higher rev region.
BB) You would have a fun time getting a boot assembly to transition from the 550 box outlet to the Buffalo carbs. Real ingenuity would be required to cobble something up.....although there might be some way to use a Buffalo boot and make it somehow fit the outlet from the 550 airbox.
My .02 worth....

mmmm....yer right I didn't consider airflow. 74-> 750 doesn't have a separate big rubber boot like the 550 and earlier 750. Guess I'm stuck waiting on one to show up on fleabay.

Any 74 on air box will fit. Although the 74 had unique one year only box and end caps. its fit and functionality is the same as 75-77.
