It would definitely smoke more on the RH pipe if it was sucking gear oil ... quite a lot more.

Different plug color can also certainly be caused by a misfire, ignition timing that's a little bit out of whack, etc. I'd try and get the points & timing dialled in first, check the throttle sync too, also make sure that the baffle and RH pipe are clear and not full of carbon.

Then see how she goes ... keep us posted!

One way for sure to test is to get some of the stuff you can add to the oil that glows under a black light . If your exhaust pipe tip glows under the black light after running with this stuff added to the tranny its getting into the cylinder some how . http://directory.pten.com/product/10164 ... I'm going to change out the gear oil again this weekend, I'll take a measurement of it to see how now much, if any I've used. I put exactly 1.5 quarts in there.

I'm also going to put my dial indicator in there and set the timing correctly. I don't have the suzuki 'sound machine' so I'm just going to use a test lamp I have rigged up.

Those plugs looked fine last year before I had fouled up the timing when I removed the clutch....so I've got my fingers crossed that it's a timing issue on that right cylinder.

To check the gear oil level...
Put the bike on the center stand, there is a check plug (looks like a bolt head) in the right crankcase cover, below the kick start shaft about level with the brake pedal. Mine is original and is a 10mm hex with a phillips screw slot in the center, there should be a copper sealing washer under the head. It may have been replaced with a regular bolt so yours may have a different look but it is the only bolt in that area of the cover. With the bike level the oil should be right at the bottom of the hole when the bolt is removed just like checking a car trans or diff. Sometimes a small piece of bent wire inserted into the hole can be used to measure how low it may be. I usually remove the check plug (bolt) and fill the trans till it just dribbles out when cold. If the trans is hot it will be a little fuller and run out if the plug is removed.
