Is there a gracefull way to lower the back end or seat on a 74 750? My butt isn't that far off the ground and a couple of inches would be a huge help but i'm not seeing a viable way to get it.

Man you're not kidding! I think that's a big part of why they call it a water BUFFALO. I know Johnny (bighole) is running a smaller 16"? rear wheel on his '73 which lowers the rear end just enough to make the height reasonable, although the pipes will drag a bit easier on turns. You could PM him to see if he knows what it came off of.

I have the same problem. I had an upholstery shop cut down a recover a stock seat. Cost around $100 but was well worth it!

Heres my 73 with a 16" wheel. Not sure the origin of the wheel as it was on the bike when I found it. Some said once it might be a Harley wheel...

Not much height difference as smaller rim meant taller tire(and wider too)!

I had forgotten about the larger tire which is probably the reason nobody notices its on a 16" rim. I imagine fregado could fit a smaller tire to lower the bike but it probably wouldn't look as gracefull as yours does. Let's not forget you found the bike half buried in the mud behind a barn! The best option seems to be modifying the seat. For about $100 it seems to be a more cost effective solution too.

What's the rim width & tire size?

Common enough "upgrade" in the day. 16" Dunlop rim, laced to a stock hub. I've got one, seen two others, and now 3 with yours, John. Tire choices are the limiting factor, all seem to be cruiser related, and quite high sidewall. Little difference in overall height. I have a brand new, unmounted 16" rim if you want, but without a low profile tire to go with, it wouldn't solve your problem. Coyote has the only logical solution, with seat mods. Or John's boots, of course. Any other changes would compromise the already shallow lean angles allowed by the stock set-up. Eat your Wheaties, and grow a couple inches. That should do it. Cheers.

I had to reupolster the seat anyway (duct tape is functional but butt ugly) so i took a couple inches off of it in the process, made alot of difference, also the flatter seat makes a more comfortable ride. Thanks for the input everybody.
