as50 problem I can't figure out

Post by cpt137 »

rebuilding a ac50. Has compression and spark. Rebuilt the carb twice. All jets and passages open. Timed right. Runs when I spray gas in the carb. The bowl is full. Seem not to pull gas. Is there something simple I am missing?

Check the exhaust, see if you get any airflow when you kick it. If still not sure, pull it and look through it for any obstructions.

Is the rotary valve fitted correctly? The dot on the valve and on the crank shaft should be aligned.

Since its a disc valve engine I take it you have good o-rings on the disc valve housing surround and the screws holding it together are torqued correctly.
Also look at the carb intake side, it carries a circular bakelite collar with four slots in it, make sure they are not cracked or chipped off and that its sealing correctly on the disc valve plate carb spigot.
It sounds like you may have a leak somewhere on the intake side, how are the crank seals on the disc valve plate centres.
Two strokes, its just that simple.
