Re: My 71 Suzuki T350
thanks. i am having some trouble getting some of the rust areas off just because of how bad it is pitted. like in the first picture on the forks, and around the headlight/turnsignal brackets. But it is cleaning up nicely. I just pulled the rear rim off her today to clean up the brake drum/rim and to check the brake pads. I also need a new innertube for the rear tire...yay

Some of the aluminum has old discolored clear coat on it, paint remover works on that and use chrome polish on the rusty chrome parts.

Re: My 71 Suzuki T350
i have the chrome/metal polish from 3M and i gotta go get the paint remover. But all the metal on the bike i have only used extra fine steel wool to clean it up so i think it will look pretty good once i polish it. i did wash the engine and frame down by hand today as well. Next winter i plan to pull the engine off and get the frame powder coated, but for now a good wash will do. It just had a lot of dust/dirt built up on it.
Another thing.... tires. what kind of tire options do i have for this bike? Not too sure how old the ones on it are but they seem to be alright because there are no cracks in them and they are not super stiff (without air).
the ones on it now are INOUE front size is 3.00-18 Rear 3.50-18

Re: My 71 Suzuki T350
That sounds like what came on it new, look for something in a 90/90-18 front and a 100/90-18 rear, maybe a 110, Bridgestone Spitfire is a good tire for the money but anything new will be better than a 30 year old tire.subie_slider wrote: the ones on it now are INOUE front size is 3.00-18 Rear 3.50-18

Re: My 71 Suzuki T350
I had asked about tires for my T350 on this forum. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3968
Avon Roadriders & Bridgestone BT45 were recommended.
Bridgestone Spitfire was recommended but I don't think its available in 90/90-18.
I went with Bridgestone BT45 on wider-than-stock rims: 1.85x18 & 2.15x18 F/R rims, and 90/90-18 & 110/80-18 F/R tires.
For rims upgrades: got a NOS T350 rear rim to mount on the front, and rear looks to have a T500 rear wheel. Wider rear rim was on the bike when I bought it.
The stock rims limits your tire choices.
All depends on what the intended use is and how much you spend.
For the high-performance setup, Zook-e's advise in the threat I listed is probably the way to go.
For my GT250, which has the same rim & tire sizes, I went low cost & got IRC GS-11 tires on stock rims.
Per manufacturer recommendations, BT45s & Roadriders in sizes 90/90-18 & 110/80-18 require wider than stock rims.
I'd go with their advice, but others on this forum might have additional insight.

Re: My 71 Suzuki T350
i have to go with the stock rims, because the bike is at my work and i just need to get it out of the shop. Gonna start getting busy. I will be doing more upgrades/modifications next winter. But for this summer i will only be riding it to and from work which is only 4 miles on residential roads (45mph max).

Re: My 71 Suzuki T350
Anyone know where i can git a horn. one that will work is fine it doesn't have to be original or anything. the one on it makes noise but it is just a low buzz
tried to give it more juice and not much changed. was looking around online but not really very descriptive in the part info.

Check 'Reproductiondecals', they seem to have a good selection of horns. Also HVC cycles might have something too.

Re: My 71 Suzuki T350
I am trying to find a gasket for the fuel on/off valve and found a site that has some but not sure which one to get. they are about 1/3 the way down on the page http://reproductiondecals.com/default_f ... .html~main" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I am having a hard time locating the original gasket to measure it. (fell off bench and dissapeared into the abyss)

Re: My 71 Suzuki T350
You probably already know this, but some of the horns are adjustable - check for a grub screw on the back and try giving a half turn left or right. Also check what voltage you have at the horn - could be a problem with the handlebar switch.subie_slider wrote:Anyone know where i can git a horn. one that will work is fine it doesn't have to be original or anything. the one on it makes noise but it is just a low buzztried to give it more juice and not much changed. was looking around online but not really very descriptive in the part info.
