Hi guys, I am just about to start dismantling my T500 1975.
The steering damper is frozen, the top plastic/bakelite hand screw turns about 1/4"
either way lock to lock but that's it. I have WD40ed in and out for a couple of months now with no improvement.
How do I get this apart with out breaking expensive parts like the handle?
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Steering damper?
It it frozen where the stem screws into the bottom plate? If so you could try something better than WD40, tapping on it to loosen up the rust. IIRC it has cork on top of the plate so heat would not be good. Some kind of vibrator on the bottom stem to break loose the rust might help.

Re: Steering damper?
Well I got it off today, I managed to get the damper assembly off of the parts bike fairly easy and seeing how it was put together and having one in hand as a spare I went after
the "good" one. Brute force did the trick.
Thanks
