Re: The Dumb Way Round
Looks like the ride could be over - they have made it to Peru but now have a cracked engine block to contend with which may be the show stopper. 1937 Nimbus engine blocks are not exactly common, and looking at the photo I'd say that this might be one repair this is beyond JB Weld .....
Its been a really amazing journey. Link to their current location is here and to their blog is here.

Re: The Dumb Way Round
The saga continues - Tormod has made it to Brazil where I gather he and Klaus will hook up. After the block split on Klaus' bike, it was shipped on ahead to Durban, Africa and Tormod continued by himself. The trip from Peru was not without problems, and Tormod's 1937 Nimbus is falling apart with multiple frame breaks, no first gear, broken side car and using lots of oil.
The next scheduled stop is Durban in South Africa where both bikes will be rebuilt for the final run up through Africa to Europe. The map has been updated here and you can read about their adventures here. If you have a few bucks to spare, they do accept donations here.

Klaus and Tormod have finally made it to Durban, South Africa - as might be expected, not without incident ! You can follow their exploits here.

Actually, yes, I have been following them... most entertaining.
I'd not even been aware of the Nimbus marque until i had the good fortune to park my T500 next to one in Classics Corner at a local Bike Night this summer... lovely example.

Just saw a note from these guys - they are currently in Karthoum in the Sudan. The on-line map hasn't been updated yet, (click here for their web site) but they are getting closer to home !

Re: The Dumb Way Round
The King Croesus team has made it to Alexandria at the mouth of the Nile. Interesting time to be two tourists in Egypt for sure !
They have posted a load of photos of the demonstrations etc. - take a look at this link for the photos - and are now stranded there as they were delayed by police from getting to their ferry and so missed it. Amazing stuff.

Re: The Dumb Way Round
As of about 30 minutes ago, Tormod and Klaus are in northern Germany and about 40 KM from the ferry they will take tomorrow to Denmark. They plan (of course, nothing ever goes according to plan
) to arrive in Copenhagen at about 1 PM their local time on Tuesday March 1st. Its been an epic 23 month adventure - and hopefully will make for a good book at some point. If so, I for one will definitely buy a copy.
I expect additional details about their arrival home will be posted on their web site over the next few days.
