cafe project, what can I get rid of?

Working on my gt380 cafe project. I want to get rid of all things not needed. I only want the basic parts to be street legal. So what Im looking for is, does it have to have the battery to run and does the engine put out enough power for the lights at night without the battery? Im going to build a custom oil container for the oiler. How about all the electrical, does it need it all? Looking togo as basic as possable.

Not sure but you may be able to ditch the battery and run a Large Capacitor in place of it.I'm sure some one will Chime in.I have one in my T500 AKA the Lil' Orange Monster. Most state laws require turn signals,Brake light and at least one rear view mirror.

No can do on the Capacitor since the gt380 has an Alternator setup instead of the Generator such as the T250,350 and 500 has.You can probably go with a Small Sealed Battery to save space and a little weight.

All GT series bikes require a battery. On my 550 I am using a standard battery, stock oil tank and cap (remember this has to be vented). All are concealed by the side covers. On mine I cut off the seat hinges and assorted other unused tabs. Welded on new seat mounts, stiffeners, and a bracket to hold the rear master cylinder as I am running a disk brake.
Just remember to do a lot of mock-ups, planing and any welding BEFORE you paint or powder coat.

I use a small sealed battery from this website in my GT250. Just find one with the dimensions you want and wire up some connectors to slip on the spade terminals.

Hmmm they may but I would be Afraid of Leakage or Explosion with batteries of that type.Lithium or as far as other Rechargable Ni Cad batteries need a Special Charger Designed for that type of Battery.

I concur on the concern about charging advanced types of batteries.

Would also suggest that if you go with an AGM, gel or one of these batteries, that you should also upgrade to a modern voltage regulator. Oregon Motorcycle Parts sells one that is a direct replacement for a reasonable price -- have one on my GT750.
