best replacement exhaust system for a gt550
Can anyone tell me of any suitable replacement systems for a gt550? I would prefer a polished stainless or chrome system with twin pipes both sides, the original is past its best, it is rusty, scratched and dented, once the rebuild is complete this will let it down.

I am afraid that besides another stock exhaust pipe set you will not find anything with twin pipes on each side . Anything aftermarket will have just three pipes .
the older i get the faster i was

There is a company here in the uk called higgspeed who do a complete system for £595, approx $900 its made of polished stainless, it looks a nice system, if you go on their web site ( http://www.higgspeed.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) they have some film footage of all the bikes various bikes running with their system fitted, its a 3 into 3. I am going to contact them tomorrow and probably order one, as I have said the original system is beyond repair or restoration

Higgsy's work and pipes have a very good reputation, people that have fitted them on Kawa / Suzi / Yams in the UK have all reported they are superb quality and fit straight on. Personally I prefer the looks to the stubbier Allspeed pipes, but that's just me

I have spoken to higgspeed today, they have an 8 week lead time which suits me so I've gone ahead and ordered one. They are going to be vat registered from Jan 1st which will put a big increase on the prices
