Rocky, if you are interested, I have a standard-bore TS400 cylinder (with custom reed valves)(one of a kind) AND a first-over TS400 piston/ring set (which it needs). They could be yours, IF.........the price is right!
Lane
If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.
Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........
he simply doubled the standard tolerance of 0,075~080 mm.!!!
That was going to be my next question, Rocky, about what EXACTLY was the clearance when you had the cylinder bored. It is amazing how many "artists" think they are "smarter" than the piston/engine manufacturers.
I'm glad to hear you finally got everything sorted out and all is well now.

In 2005, I went to Italy on a cruise that left from Barcelona, and anchored in Italy and France. We visited most of the touristy attractions like the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Trevi Fountain and of course all the sites in Rome including the archeological digs, but I missed touring the countryside. I know I missed out on the beautiful scenery but oh well...maybe someday I can go back.... where in where these pictures taken? Someday, I'd love to go to Tuscany... but of course only because of the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" (I know, I know...its a girl thing, we can't help but to romanticize about stuff like that)
Joicey, this is not the postcard Italy, this is the real one; not Rome or Tuscany, neither Milan, altough they are all nice places.
Pictures were taken in range not exceding 200 km far from my home, Apulia, the heel of Italy, in places like Jonian Sea, Gallipoli, Taranto, Salento, Lucania, and so on.

Thanks for the great pics, Rocky. Beautiful country and the roads look like lotsa fun to ride.
Summer will be here soon in Cowtown......hopefully......although it IS early spring here. I rode to work yesterday....but not on the 550. It's still waaaayy
too "gravelly" on the roads here and I don't need any rock chips in my paint.

I just acquired a 72 TS400J, the OEM carb is in pretty bad shape stripped oy float bowl screws etc. I would like to install a new mikuni VM32 carb. Wondering if anyone has any experience with it, does it connect ok to the OEM air box boot? what should I jet it to? the engine ran and felt strong, but would not idle. I have not really got into it yet. I would like to do a top end job and replace the crank seal (left one - I always hear the right one survives well as it is in oil and internal) Also trying to find an OEM air box and a pipe heat shield, .... on ebay etc.
