Did the rg500 and rg400 use the same gearbox

So was it just a matter of bigger cylinder sleeve andpiston or were the different in any other ways?

From what I read on line over the years I assumed that it was barrels heads and pistons. there's a lot of RG400 parts available in the UK. I'm guessing that a 400 can't be bored out to 500.

The trans is the weak spot on that bike though as you probably know.

crankcases are different and you couldn't fit RG 500 barrels on RG 400 crankcases.
Don't know for the gearbox yet
