The U70 update.

Post by Suzsmokeyallan »

Well thanks to UK member Geoff (Zunspec4) on the board, the majority of U70 parts are finally in my possession. For those of you who remember it, or don't, the Suzuki U50/70 was a mid to late 60s 'step thru' bike somewhat like a copy of a Honda C70.
It came into my possession as a bitsa bike, being built out of left over NOS parts stock and some used parts, but in this case this one was missing some vital body items.
Only found in the UK, Oz, Thailand and Singapore these days it seems, they were never marketed in North America and that makes finding parts difficult.
I've got too many bikes working on right now, BUT I will get all the metal together for blasting and priming to complete the painted parts of this bike early in the new year.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Good luck Allan,

It was a great adventure getting the parts over to you, much fun, especially the look on the Virgin Atlantic check in girls face when I deposited 40Kg of parts as hold luggage :D :D :D

Cheers Geoff

Yes Geoff you did excellently; I showed my brother the parts you sent today in the boxes and he just smiled, "so it looks like its going to happen then, a restored U70 should be fun", he said.
I also got good news by the way of Guvners Bridge recently, who I bought a NOS front fender (plastic) in red and the stays, This is great since it now gives me the exact colour to match the rest of the parts to.
There's a few minor items left outstanding now, the main one being the plastic CCI tank and its related small parts etc that fit inside that frame cover.
Just in case you've missed it folks here's a photo of what the little bike looks like, basically its an A70 rotary disc valve engine with an automatic clutch, mine however may end up with a manual clutch setup.
