A couple of questions: the cylinder cool fins are bear metal on the sides is this completely around and the cylinder head I’ve only got some pictures and it’s not clear? the triple tree (your picture) on the right side is a 8mm thread any thoughts what it’s for?
Thanks
Andy

Re: 1976 TS400
That tree was shared for the 250 and 400 models, the optional steering damper mounts in that 8mm hole on the tree and on the frame at the other end.
The cylinder brushed aluminum fin effect was done for a contrast of colour against the black and goes right around all the fins edges on the barrel. Its also done on the edge of all the fins and the lower edge of the head as well.

Two strokes, its just that simple.

Re: 1976 TS400
Here's details of another TS400 HERE (clicky) with the first outing on the road today. If anyone 'over there' has a spare air filter housing or a decent luggage rack, please let me know. If I ever find one, there will be two local to me, but as they weren't imported directly to the UK, they are few and far between unfortunately.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.
