I just bought a tachometer cable and discovered that the rear of the rev counter on my clock doesn't have an extended tube with a thread on it to correspond with the cable and the rounded 'screw' which you just tighten after pushing the cable in.
Has something dropped off my clock? Do i need to order a 'new' (s/h) clock from a breakers?
thanks for advice, as always. much appreciated.

Sounds like part of the clock base is missing.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

there's no way that the rev counter could be electronic? I ask for 2 reasons:
1. the previous cable i dont think was ever connected but the rev coutner worked
2. there are 2 lose cables in my headlight bowel which i dont know what to do with.
bloody confusing, eh?

A picture top and bottom (of the clock!) is worth a thousand words.

Stock OEM was mechanical, but we don't know what you are looking at until you show us.

Pictures of the face and back of the clock should reveal all.
