Richard since hes added pods id figure it went lean since they are flowing more air in a different pattern at the slower intake speeds.
All he has to do is open the airscrews out, then in to see what the results are.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Allan, I don't disagree with your logic. That does look like it is a probably cause. 73's don't usually surge the way the later bikes do and I'm just keeping an open mind as to what the issue is.

It could still be partially blocked passageways or simple out of balance situation wit the filters or damaged or non stock exhaust causing problems or a riding style that is subtle and smooth and doesn't suit the bike characteristics. Could be a partially blocked air jet for example or any number of other things.

We agree that screwing the air screw in a turn or so and out a turn or so should make a difference and if it doesn't there's something else going on here.
