TS185K carburetor

Hi all,

Trouble with the idle stop screw on the top of my carb VM24, the rod on the slide is fairly bent and prevents the slide from moving properly (believe me ive tried to straighten it)
Looking at the manual the 73 TS 185 had the stop idle stop screw on the side not the top of the slide. Is this the original carb?
I know the 71' and 72' had a VM26. Looking at replacing the carb unfortunately as I can't seem to get this rod straight enough for the slide to moving properly
Difficult to find a replacement carb with flange bolt holes. Any advice on what to replace it with or where to find a new stop idle screw for a vm24 please let me know!

Your bent rod is likely still available from Suzuki.

There should be a number stamped on the carb. That number is 5 digits, and is the second part of the Suzuki part number. From that we can tell what carb you actually have.
The number is most likely on the top of the flange or near the choke plunger.

Thanks for the reply jabcb.

Missed that stamp when I looked it over, on the flange like you said. 18110. Just a little confused as best I can tell this carb is off a T250? The 73' TS185k parts diagram shows no idle stop screw on top the slide. Tried to attach some phot links hope they work.

It looks like a T250 carb. The T250 throttle stop rod should still be available from Suzuki.

Perhaps some expert can provide some insight into jetting for a T250 carb used on a T185.

What is the bike’s history? Was it running ok at some point with this carb?

Thanks again for the help jabcb. Just picked it up. Non running.

Do you know if the 73' TS185 came with a 24mm carb? Oddly enough my manual does not say.

If so it may be easiest to just put a new vm24 on and use a rubber bolt flange as an adapter. Appreciate any advice

Suzuki Service Bulletins are here: http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/techbuls/index.htm

The carb specs for your 73 TS185 are in Specification-6: http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/techb ... %206-9.pdf
Your TS185K originally had a VM24.

For your VM24 specs, see 69 T250 in Specification-11: http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/techb ... 010-14.pdf

Since it’s a non runner, perhaps you should get it running with the current carb before switching carbs. Or perhaps get a used TS185 carb.

I’m not that much of a carb expert. Perhaps one of the forum carb experts can recommend jetting for the T250 VM24 when used in your TS185K.
