If you both go, make sure fuel is available frequently for your mate. You should get about 40mpg or so driven 'normally'. I get less on the A as it's non standard and makes me feel much younger!!
Zero the odo when you brim the tank and note the mileage when you go onto reserve for future use - should be about 100 miles or so. There should be about a gallon reserve iirc.

Plenty of fuel stations around down here even on the smaller roads and routes we use. I havent measured mpg yet but will be .i dont think im getting 40 mpg though.ive washed all the baffles out .need to do another 200 odd miles and check head torque again.would have managed that if weather over last 2/3 weeks hadnt put a dampner on things .

My mates H2 triple went to the TT in 07 and i was on my GSXR1100.we planned fuel stops carefully but his H2 actually performed better than my 1100.i dont think my 550a is doing much more than mid 30,s mpg but will brim her see at the weekend.both bikes did well though although his drive chain snapped going into Kirk Michael.no damage to cases, phew but did muller the chain guard .i rode round to bike shop in Douglas but the chain was about 6 links too short as someone had put the wrong chain in the correct box.wish id counted them at time .got her recovered to my Uncles place in Foxdale and Padgetts said sorry and gave me correct one nxt day .i let you know how the 550 performs over the nxt few days .thanks for all of your help mate .

hi mate, just a quick word  if it feels like the choke is on or partly on below 4000 then it sounds like it's running slightly rich. if it is you want to turn the pilot airscrews OUT, not in. screwing them in will richen the mixture :D
cheers, dd.
p.s. don't go mad though, the last thing you want is a lean mixture.

Shouldn't need super. What plugs do you have in and how hard do you ride?
My 550s ALWAYS need a bit of choke when warm and full choke from cold. Plus, turn the tap to prime if the bike hasn't run for more than a couple of days then back to on/res when it starts. Electric start pumps it through fairly quick (3-4 seconds) but kickstart doesn't until your leg is fed up.
