Wow , thats a comphrensive reply ! Thank you .there are washers ,new ,on each stud .previous owner said he had the studs plated to prevent corrosion.? The only part that seems to be not new was the pair of air filters .the left one looks awful .filthy and moth eaten .right looks good .great info for my rebuild .i let you know how im doing.as you can prob tell i dont have much confidence despite 40 + years of riding and doing most of own maintenence .thanks again .

Again , thank you Alan.i am sure now there can only be really 2 causes of top end failure.1st lack oil and secondly , the nikasil failing .Sat i be going through all of the lines following your guidance carefully .hopefully early next week i be ordering parts at last and arranging for barrels to go to platers .now i know i can parts from Grampian and get barrels re done its not a race so be taking my time .im getting more hopeful now after being so down on Sat last week .

Cheers bud. If you get to South Yorkshire anytime, the kettle (water boiling type) will be on and we can put the world to rights.
Drinks at reasonable prices of course.

Thank you Evans .my mate Steve has a 74 H2 .i see one on your collection .it took him to 2007 TT and me on my GSXR1100.the H2 was more economical on fuel than the big Suzuki .ive been to 54 TT and Manx Gp,s but nothing since 2019 due to you know .just had my ferry refund returned for this year .at least funds have arrived in good time to help with 550.
