Suzuki GT185....new chain/sprockets....loose on full adj.

Just fitted new heavy duty chain/sprockets....bike rides fine but seems to have a hell of a lot of play in chain as adjusters are on full and wheel won't move further backwards.
Manual says around 20mm play....I'm sure it's at least double that. I've checked youtube to see best way to measure but still a bit confused.....I just measured the play upwards (midway position between sprockets)......some have suggested measuring chain top and bottom then taking difference ? Maybe chain needs a link removing. Sprockets I believe correct....14 and 38 teeth if I remember.
Top of chain moves almost as soon as you move lower part upwards. Chain does not pull back from rear sprocket easily if those are any clues ?

Any help appreciated.
John.

How many links in the chain is the big question? Sounds like you have too many to me. Should be 102 links methinks
Look here page 59 15-20mm play

Your chain is to long and you need to remove a link or two.
