Hello, I would be keen to know if using Simple Green with water (25 to 50 degrees C) in a ultrasonic cleaner is any good at cleaning a variety of parts made of brass, alum, mild steel, plastics and rubber etc? If Simple Green is a good product to use in a ultrasonic cleaner, what is the best ratio of Simple Green and water to have to get the best results and also which is the best Simple Green product to use? - Many thanks

Never heard of that product. I use citric acid crystals to make a mild solution, but be wary of leaving alloy in more than about 10 minutes. Don't ask why please, although that particular carb was in very poor condition originally!

I use Cussons dish washing liquid and a couple of cups of vinegar, works just fine

Sounds worth a crack. My cleaner normally takes around 1.5 to 2L of water so I assume you would add the dish washing liquid and 2 cups of vinegar to the 1.5L of water for the right ratio?

My tub is 6 litres, so I'll let you do the math.

I regularly use Simple Green concentrate with my ultrasonic cleaner with the heating function on. About 3 ounces in 1.25 gallons (my tank size) will clean carbs or fuel petcocks pretty well. An advantage is that it is biodegradable so its easy to dispose of. I have left my carbs in the solution for up to 3 days without any degrading of the castings. I do need to use a brush to scrub off some of the remaining dirt and debris from the parts sometimes. This is a rather mild cleaner but does a pretty good job. It leaves a mild haze on brass that is easily wiped off. And, it's safe on parts and has no bad odors.

Great, thanks for your comments which is very helpful. The Simple Green product I have been recommend is "Crystal Simple Green" - see the link below which is a top end industrial cleaning product. I assume this has a little bit more bite than the standard product?
