GT380 Tank respray

Post by grumps »

Hi

1977 GT380B.

I want to respray the tank (in fact, I want a specialist to do it). I need to source the parts first so am looking for the emblems and graphics.

I believe the emblems to be part number6811 - 34000 but I can't find a source for the graphics. I need a list of the correct graphics. I can see sets on ebay but which ones are right?

The bike was originally made for the Italian market and is 384cc to suit their laws but I am certain it has been resprayed before but not in original colours so the graphics are probably not as per original.

Any ideas as to where to source these please?

Thanks
David

New OEM emblems match the hole/nut spacing correctly -- I've bought reproductions that don't.
New emblems & nuts are listed as available from Suzuki: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/suzuk ... /fuel-tank

Reproduction Decals / Diablo Cycle is a good source for graphics. They list other model years but don’t list the 1977 GT380B.
They don’t list all of their decals, so contact them to see if they have yours.

The painter that did my GT550 cafe build used the Reproduction Decals graphics as a template & did the graphics in paint. Turned out quite nice.

You can’t post images here. Post them to a free image hosting site & post links to those images here. I use Flickr.com

I have just bought some decals for my GT185, they have not been applied yet, so can’t really comment how good they are, the same guy I bought them off has these for your listed bike, not sure if they are correct for you?

Thanks for that. They probably are as the original colour was red I believe. It is now that golden colour. (edit Aztec gold) I might take the opportunity to revert to original. From research it looks like the side panels were black in 1977.

Really appreciate your post. Thanks

I used RS for the paint on my 380. Nice stuff, but expensive. Had a good painter do a match from an original side panel on my T350 and it came out great too and much much cheaper. I guess it depends on who does the match/paint.
