Gt500 ignition on the T500
So I thought I might fit the Gt500 ignition system to my T500 I just need to know if the crankshaft ends are the same

Re: Gt500 ignition on the T500
As far as I know the 2 crankshafts are different, they have different part numbers for the left end. The T500 rotor is held on by a bolt into the crank, and the GT500 flywheel is held onto the crank by a nut.
Can you make it fit ? I don't know.
All the trouble I had with the GT500 ignition I would not go that route. If you need electronic ignition I would look for T500 options.

Re: Gt500 ignition on the T500
The T500 & GT500 crankshafts are different.
The T500 crank uses a bolt to attach the alternator/ignition bits.
The GT500 crank uses a nut to attach the alternator/PEI bits.
The T500 & GT500 crankcases are also different.
The T500 alternator has the rotor inside the stator.

PowerDynamo / VAPE is an expensive solution that replaces the alternator & ignition.

The T500 stock alternator doesn’t have much excess capacity.
The stock points ignition has a dwell angle of about 180 degrees. (Points are closed for about 180 degrees.)
When switching to the stock alternator + electronic ignition, I would recommend not using a hall-effect ignition that has a really large dwell angle because of the extra alternator load.
Newtronics has a good system that’s popular for the triples. My GT750s have it.
Their website mentions that some adjustment for the T500 may be needed. I vaguely remember reading something about a spacer.

Accent has a good system that’s popular for the triples. My GT550 cafe build has it.
I bought their T500 unit but have not yet installed it.
They don’t have much of a website. Ask questions & place orders via email.

Re: Gt500 ignition on the T500
Good suggestions there. Cheapest by far is a DYNA copy from ebay for any 4 cylinder 4 stroke. You will have to modify the backing plate to replace the points plate but they make a fat spark and are very cost effective.

Re: Gt500 ignition on the T500
Thanks for the tips! I think the best option for me would be the vape ignition system since my original stator appears to have developed internal shorts and isn't charging properly anymore
