t500 newtronics nightmare

Post by MikGsxr »

Hi everyone, I got my newtronics ignition kit and have been trying to install it for 4 hours total now. I am up to the wiring part and the diagrams and instructions are terrible and the customer service from newtronics is even worse! i cannot figure out how the wires connect to the coils. there is one orange wire that splits into 2- one has a male end, the other has a female end. in the diagram it says something about connecting the FOUR orange wires -wtf?! i think the black and white male connectors slot into the female part of the wiring harness that i had to unclip but the orange ones are doing my head in. maybe the female lead goes into the other plastic connector (with the male ends?)? if so, which orange one -there are two... i will try and post pics

Stock & Newtronic wiring should looks something like this:

Oops. The wires in that diagram that look yellow were intended to be orange.

I have the Newtronic kit for the GT750/GT380, so I'm not sure what your kit looks like. If this doesn't explain it enough for you, post a pic of the parts you have.

Here is another pic. Hope this helps explain the setup.

You'll need to make another wire they should have included. It will have a male end & a female end.

After you have everything figured out & working, you can clean up the wiring by using connectors that match up to bike's existing connectors. Several sources are listed under: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=4824

I had the same problem. It was a bit of a headfeck when I first looked at it but I see you have sorted it out. Pretty sure I had to add an extra wire as well to connect 12V from the ignition system to the orange wires on the Newtronics harness. They must have assumed that the coils have one common power wire when in fact there are two separate power wires.
