To quote a line from Game of Thrones - winter is coming, so I thought I'd get a pic of what I have been riding this summer.

I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I know I can stop anytime.

Re: My 2014 Summer Rides
Thanks Garry - it has not been without its problems though. This winter I will lace in another front hub (thanks Fred !) as the original one has developed lateral cracks (side to side around the circumference) in the cast iron insert friction surface. I've also bought another complete drum/baking plate as a spare as I plan to keep this bike a long time. I've pretty sure they were not there when I first inspected the drum, but to be completely honest I was focused more on checking the side plate of the drum as these are known for cracking around the axle boss. I had the wheel apart after the first tank or so of fuel due to a slight front brake lever pulse - the drum measured within wear tolerance, so I lapped the drum using the wet and dry paper trick and the initial pulsing had pretty much gone, but then the pulse seemed to return so I had it apart again for another look. You can see one set of cracks in the photo below - there were other smaller ones that don't show in photos in a couple other places elsewhere.garry55 wrote:loving the Cobra - way cool
It may have just been bad luck - or very good luck possibly , but is something for others to be aware of - these bikes are not getting any newer.

Nice bikes, how is the GS400 coming? I now have a 2012 Moto Guzzi V7. I plan on restoring (somewhat) my GT500 this summer.....

Re: My 2014 Summer Rides
The GS400 is parked wwwwaaaayyy at the back of the lockup Robert Not sure when I'll get to it - just picked up another few GT750's to play with (some wrecks, but a couple with potential) so now I have an even dozen - and half of them are plated and insured. Should be a busy 2015 !rbond wrote:Nice bikes, how is the GS400 coming? I now have a 2012 Moto Guzzi V7. I plan on restoring (somewhat) my GT500 this summer.....
