Powder Coating

Post by markj »

So now that I've got everything apart it's time to bring the frame and the swinger to the local powder coater. I've never done this before so I'm looking for input on what is worth powder coating and what isn't. For example calipers - are they worth while? I have a glass bead cab so I can clean up and paint smaller parts easy enough.

Here's my list of what I think are good candidates;

-frame and swingarm
-battery box
-harness connector plate(the one behind the left side cover)
-Top triple tree/handlebar mount

Anything else I'm missing?

On my GT750, I also did the side stand, centre stand, engine mount plates, rear turn signal mount brackets, the right and left driver foot peg arms, the triple tree itself (masked off the stem, bolt holes and fork tube area - just did the lower pinch bolt section), the metal surround on the air cleaner box (on my 1973), and the rear brake stay. 8)

Thanks for the tips(I forgot about some of that). The local guy here is really, really reasonable and that includes stripping and prepping so I just have to put everything together and in a week I'll have shiny new stuff. :D
